XCMG LED Work Light Project

XCMG Excavator was established in 2008. As a "latecomer" starting amid skepticism 14 years ago, it has now risen to become an industry "leader," continuously reshaping the market landscape. XCMG Excavator has achieved full product line coverage, ranging from mini excavators to ultra-large mining excavators. With excellent quality and enthusiastic service, it continues to attract more and more global partners.

Some high-end XCMG excavator models use imported LED lights, which are costly, and the service distance from imported light suppliers is quite far, with some model-specific differentiated demands not being met promptly. In the competitive environment where LED work lights are gradually standardizing in the industry, other models still use halogen lights. The low-end configuration of halogen lights is inconsistent with XCMG Excavator's industry ranking, which does not benefit the accumulation and enhancement of the XCMG brand image. At the same time, continuing to use halogen lights is not conducive to saving users' long-term usage costs.

In the construction machinery field, LED work lights have a clear advantage over halogen lights in terms of service life and illumination effect. The continuous upgrading of LED chip technology and decreasing costs also provide a foundation for the widespread adoption of LED work lights in the construction machinery industry.

Given this situation, Nanhua Electronics and XCMG jointly discussed providing an overall vehicle work lighting solution tailored to harsh working conditions, aiming for low-carbon lighting, enhanced overall quality, and improved product image.

During the discussions, XCMG's technical team proposed five major requirements: the newly developed lights should meet the luminous flux of imported lights and comply with EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) interference resistance requirements. Additionally, the solution must address bulk supply material assurance and maintain product quality consistency in large-scale production to reduce product failure rates.

Nanhua Electronics actively responded to the client's needs, dedicating professionals to project development. They first selected advanced LED chip brands and suppliers to enhance product efficiency, leaving a margin in power consumption to ensure long lifespan for the chips. Through scientific thermal simulations, NANHUA achieved a more cost-effective balance between light fixture reliability and cost.

Thanks to its understanding of construction machinery models and long-standing configuration experience, NANHUA developed a new circuit design to solve the EMC interference issue. The product obtained E-MARK certification, meeting the stringent EMC requirements for road vehicles. This solution also laid the foundation for XCMG’s future electrical design iterations, ensuring ongoing adaptability and eliminating potential concerns.

The development process strictly followed APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) for product quality planning and control, maintaining close communication with the client throughout the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process). NANHUA submitted all required documents and obtained mass production approval. Supported by extensive documentation, the client had full confidence in NANHUA's product quality and stable delivery, achieving a 100 PPM (Parts Per Million) target.

In addition, NANHUA provided XCMG with a one-month finished product inventory and stocking plan, and a three-month rolling material supply plan. We also communicated the information to suppliers, coordinated production schedules, and provided strong backing for XCMG Excavator’s emergency needs and supply chain stability.

Before the mass deployment of the LED work lights, NANHUA's sales team visited the site and worked with XCMG's project members to conduct lighting tests on the complete machines, ensuring the work lights fully met the specified lighting requirements. To date, NANHUA has supplied over 170,000 LED work lights to XCMG, improving actual delivery to 30 PPM and exceeding the initial project quality target of 100 PPM.

Despite the repeated impact of the pandemic, NANHUA successfully completed continuous supply tasks. Additionally, according to XCMG’s project team, NANHUA’s collaboration with XCMG has greatly reduced the after-sales costs of the lights compared to previous models, earning unanimous praise from the client. XCMG Excavator successfully completed the low-carbon transition from halogen work lights to LED work lights, saving more than 99% of past lighting maintenance costs due to superior quality.

Due to the success of this collaboration, Nanhua Electronics has been selected as the domestic supplier for XCMG’s LED work light project, and both parties will engage in deeper and more comprehensive cooperation on LED lighting.

In the lighting project collaboration, cost expenditures were reduced by 25%.
