Case study|Wind Monitoring in the Himalayas

At over 5,000 meters above ground level in Saga County, Tibet, stands a centralized photovoltaic power station, a beacon of renewable energy nestled in the heart of the Himalayas. This region, renowned for its abundant solar energy resources, ranks as one of the most promising solar zones globally, second only to the Earth's driest regions. The CMA Public Meteorological Service Center estimates that this station can harness energy equivalent to 240 billion tons of standard coal, making it a vital contributor to the renewable energy landscape. However, the station's high-altitude location presents unique challenges, including intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation and extreme temperature fluctuations.
For every 1,000 meters gained in altitude, UV radiation intensity increases by 5%. In the plateau regions like Saga County, UV radiation is 2 to 3 times stronger than in the plains. The rugged terrain, combined with radiative cooling during clear nights, leads to rapid temperature drops, often falling below 0°C. These harsh conditions demand highly durable and accurate wind sensors to ensure the photovoltaic project's reliable operation.
NANHUA is proud to support this endeavor by providing our specialized wind sensors.

Our FA21 series is designed with high-quality Japanese bearings and includes sensitive thermometers that automatically activate when the ambient temperature drops to 5°C. This feature ensures the bearings remain stable in low temperatures, thereby enhancing the accuracy of wind monitoring. Crafted from premium stainless steel and aluminum alloy with anodizing treatment, these sensors boast exceptional weather and UV resistance. They retain their physical integrity and performance even after prolonged exposure to the harsh elements.
Additionally, the carbon fiber wind vane offers superior precision in indicating wind direction. Known for its lightweight and high rigidity, this material minimizes wind resistance and wear, ensuring consistent, long-term performance. This combination of advanced materials and innovative design allows NANHUA's wind sensors to operate reliably in the challenging Himalayan environment.
Our involvement in this project exemplifies Nanhua Electronics' dedication to delivering high-quality, reliable solutions for the renewable energy sector. We are committed to supporting the photovoltaic industry's growth and stability, contributing to a greener future.
